Bloomming is founded by Bas van Leeuwen and Mireille Meijs. They met during their study at the Design Academy in The Netherlands. For the duo, Bloomming means spring and blossom. Inspired by the world in which we live their designs are made to surprise. The approach differences each time, but all their designs and products are fit in a collection the duo likes to call 'Industrial Poetry'.
Contrary to appearances, this rather scare-looking aluminium and steel contraption - designed by one Bas van Leeuwen for Dutch design studio Bloomming and christened the Clock Delay - is intended to serve a strictly benign purpose, namelijk that of measuring time. How? Upon its three cogwheels, labelled hours, minutes and seconds, you'll notice a series of numbers running along the outside edge of each. Observe the points where the three meet each other, and there's your time. Yes, we quite agree, as clocks go it's hardly when you'd call practical. Yet there's something hypnotic and compelling about its elegant mechanism, plus it's a potentially great conversation starter. Just make sure that small childeren, pets and the inebriated don't get too close...
The Room Divider Facet of Bloomming makes it possible to be creative with light and shadow. The diamond shapes can be individually opened or closed and allow you to create all the creative patterns you can imagine. The room divider can also be used as blinds. The system is modular and can be expanded till any desired size, width or length.
For our wedding anniversary we wanted to do something special. We choose to celebrate it with the wedding ring set by Bloomming. The design is simple, sophisticated and symbolic. And they’re very comfortable to wear. The whole process took only 3 weeks. And the personal touch from Bas was the icing on the cake!
